Privacy Policy
Last updated: [LAST UPDATED DATE]
This Privacy Policy explains how [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("househelp", "we", "us" or "our"), which operates the website at [WEBSITE URL], collects, uses, shares, stores and protects your personal data when you use our website and services in Delhi NCR (Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida).
We are the Data Fiduciary responsible for your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), and we also follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 (SPDI Rules).
Please read this policy together with our Terms of Service, Refund & Cancellation Policy, Disclaimer and our Contact & Grievance Redressal page. By using our website and services, you confirm that you have read and understood this policy.
1. What we do (and our role)
househelp is an introduction and facilitation service. We connect households ("Employers") with individuals who are looking for and willing to do household work — such as cooks, cleaners, nannies, drivers and elder-care attendants — and who tell us they already know the basic tasks involved. We onboard and list these worker profiles ourselves so that Employers can review them, interview candidates, and decide whom to hire.
We are an intermediary and facilitator only. We are not the employer of any worker, we are not your agent, and we do not become a party to any employment relationship between an Employer and a worker. We do not guarantee the quality, character, honesty, background or performance of any worker, and we do not promise "pre-vetted" or "good" workers. The decision to interview and hire — and the responsibility to exercise your own judgement — always rests with the Employer.
This matters for your privacy because it explains why we share limited contact details between Employers and workers: that sharing is the core purpose you engage us for.
2. The personal data we collect
A. Information you give us (Employers / website visitors)
- Full name
- Mobile number
- Email address
- City (within Delhi NCR)
- Messages you send us through our contact or enquiry forms
- Booking details — the service you are looking for (e.g. cook, nanny, elder-care), preferred timings, and related requirements you choose to share
B. Information about workers we onboard
- Profile information we collect during onboarding, which may include name, contact details, city/area, the type of household work sought, experience, languages, availability and a photograph.
C. Optional add-on information
- If you purchase an optional add-on such as police verification, or pay our placement facilitation fee or subscribe to HelpCare Plus, we (or our verification/payment partners) may collect additional details such as identity-document information and payment information. Some of this is "sensitive personal data or information" under the SPDI Rules, and we handle it accordingly (see Sections 4 and 9).
D. Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data such as device/browser type, IP address and pages viewed, collected through cookies and similar technologies to keep the website working and secure.
Please do not send us sensitive information (such as passwords, health details or financial-account details) through free-text contact-form messages.
3. Why we use your data, and our legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, given when you submit a form, create a booking, hire a worker or buy an add-on. Under the DPDP Act, your consent is free, specific, informed, unconditional and unambiguous, and is limited to the purposes below. Your consent to processing is taken separately and is not bundled into our Terms of Service. We use your data to:
| Purpose | What this means |
|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry | Reply to contact-form messages and answer questions |
| Facilitate an introduction | Match you with suitable worker profiles and arrange an interview |
| Share contact details | Share the relevant contact details of the Employer and the matched worker with each other so the interview and hiring can happen |
| Process bookings and fees | Manage your booking, collect the one-time placement facilitation fee (15% of the first month's salary, payable only on hiring), and manage optional add-ons and the HelpCare Plus subscription |
| Provide optional add-ons | Arrange police verification or other add-ons you specifically request |
| Support and service | Provide customer support, including under HelpCare Plus |
| Safety, security and legal compliance | Keep our platform secure, prevent misuse and fraud, and comply with applicable law |
| Service communications | Send you booking-related and account-related messages |
Salaries are paid by the Employer directly to the worker; we do not process salary payments and only handle our own fees and add-ons.
We will not use your personal data for a new, unrelated purpose without giving you a fresh notice and obtaining your consent.
4. How we protect your data (security)
We follow reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or loss, as required by the DPDP Act (s.8(5)) and the SPDI Rules (Rule 8). These include appropriate managerial, technical, operational and physical controls proportionate to the data we hold, access controls, and the use of reputable service providers. For sensitive personal data, we align our practices with recognised standards (such as IS/ISO/IEC 27001-type reasonable security practices).
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to keep our safeguards up to date.
5. When and with whom we share your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as described here:
- With the matched Employer or worker: to enable the introduction and interview, we share the relevant contact details between the Employer and the matched worker. This is the core service you consent to when you use househelp.
- With service providers (Data Processors): trusted vendors who help us run the service — for example website hosting, SMS/email delivery, payment processing and, where you request it, police-verification partners. We engage them only under a valid contract, and they may use your data only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons: where disclosure is required by law, by a government agency legally authorised to obtain it, or by a court, or to protect our rights, our users and the public.
We remain accountable for your personal data even when a Data Processor handles it on our behalf (DPDP Act s.8(1)–(2)). We will disclose sensitive personal data to a third party only with your consent or where the law requires it (SPDI Rules, Rule 6).
6. How long we keep your data (retention)
We keep your personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above. In line with the DPDP Act (s.8(7)) and the SPDI Rules, we will erase your personal data when the purpose is no longer being served, or when you withdraw your consent — whichever is earlier — unless we are required to retain it to comply with a law (for example, tax or accounting records relating to fees you paid). Worker profiles are retained while the worker wishes to remain listed and available for household work.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, as a Data Principal you have the right to:
- Access your data (s.11): obtain a summary of the personal data we process about you and the identities of the parties with whom we have shared it.
- Correct and erase your data (s.12): ask us to correct, complete, update or erase your personal data.
- Grievance redressal (s.13): raise a complaint with us about how we handle your data (see Section 11).
- Nominate (s.14): nominate another person to exercise your rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
- Withdraw consent (s.6): withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and we will stop further processing based on that consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing already done, and may mean we can no longer provide part or all of the service (for example, we cannot arrange an introduction if you ask us not to share your contact details).
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer using the details in Section 11. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Children's data
Our services and website are intended for adults aged 18 and above, and all workers we list are adults. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of a child (anyone under 18) without the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, as required by the DPDP Act (s.9) and the DPDP Rules, 2025.
Because we offer nanny/childcare and elder-care introductions, a booking may include some information about a child or an elderly or dependent family member. Where you provide such information, you confirm that you are the parent or lawful guardian (or an authorised person) and that you consent to our using it only to facilitate the service you requested. We do not carry out tracking or behavioural monitoring of children, and we do not direct any targeted advertising at children. If you believe we hold a child's data without proper consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Sensitive personal data and optional add-ons
If you choose an optional add-on such as police verification, or when you make a payment, we or our partners may need sensitive personal data or information (such as identity-document details or payment information) under the SPDI Rules. Where this happens:
- we collect it only with your consent and only for the specific add-on or payment you requested;
- we keep it only as long as needed for that purpose; and
- you may ask to review and correct it.
Optional add-ons are never a default and never a guarantee. A police-verification report is provided as-is by the relevant authority/partner; it does not amount to a promise by us about a worker's character or background. See our Disclaimer for more on this.
10. Cookies, links and data breaches
- Cookies: we use essential cookies and similar technologies to run the website, remember your preferences and keep it secure. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.
- Third-party links: our website may link to other websites we do not control. This policy does not cover those websites; please read their own privacy policies.
- Data breach: if a personal data breach affects your data, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and the affected users in the manner and time required by the DPDP Act (s.8(6)) and the DPDP Rules, 2025.
11. Grievance Officer and how to contact us
If you have any question, request or complaint about your personal data or this policy, please contact our Grievance Officer. (Full mandatory disclosures and all our contact channels are on our Contact & Grievance Redressal page.)

Escalation: If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India under the DPDP Act. You do not need a lawyer or need to pay a fee to approach the Board.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or in the law. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and where required by law we will seek your fresh consent.
