Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
Last updated: [LAST UPDATED DATE]
This page explains what [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("househelp", "we", "us", "our") does and does not do, and how responsibility is shared between us, the households who use our service, and the individuals looking for household work. Please read it together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy. By using our website or services, you agree to what is set out here.
1. What we are — and what we are not
househelp is an introduction and facilitation service. We operate in Delhi NCR (Gurgaon, Delhi and Noida) and connect households ("you", the employer) with individuals who are looking for household work — cooks, cleaners, nannies, drivers and elder-care helpers — and who already know the basic tasks of the role.
- We facilitate an introduction and an interview. We are an intermediary. We are not the employer of any worker, and we are not your agent.
- We do not supply labour, and we do not place ourselves between you and the worker as a contractor. When you hire someone, you are the employer.
- No employment relationship is created — between us and any worker, or between us and you — by your use of this platform.
2. We do not warrant or guarantee the workers
This is the most important thing to understand before you hire.
We give you access to people who are willing and available to do household work. We do not promise, warrant or guarantee any of the following:
- the character, honesty, trustworthiness or conduct of any worker;
- the skill, quality or standard of any worker's work;
- the accuracy or completeness of any profile information, self-reported experience, or references (much of which is provided by the worker); or
- that any worker is suitable for your particular home, family, or needs.
Profiles are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Meeting or interviewing someone through us is not a recommendation or an endorsement by us.
3. Your responsibility — interview and use your own judgement
Because we do not vet or vouch for character or quality, the decision to hire is entirely yours, and so is the responsibility for making it carefully. Before you hire anyone or give them access to your home, you agree that you will:
- interview the person yourself (we can help arrange the call and, where possible, help translate);
- check references and documents to your own satisfaction;
- exercise your own independent judgement about whether the person is right for your household; and
- take your own precautions about home security, valuables, keys and the safety of the people in your home.
You are hiring an adult stranger into your home. That decision — and the ongoing supervision of the person you hire — is yours.
4. Optional verification add-ons are not a guarantee
We offer optional, paid add-ons such as police verification, an interstate compliance pack, and the HelpCare Plus support subscription. These are never required and are not switched on by default. They are charged at the price shown when you opt in.
Where you buy one of these, please understand its limits:
- A police / background verification reports only what the relevant authority or third-party source returns at that point in time. It is not a certificate of good character, not a promise that the person is safe, and not a prediction of how they will behave in your home in future.
- The compliance pack helps with paperwork; it is not a guarantee about the worker.
- HelpCare Plus provides the specific support benefits described at sign-up (such as help finding a replacement and dispute support) — it is a support service, not an insurance policy and not a guarantee of any outcome.
Buying an add-on does not change Section 2 above: we still do not warrant any worker's character, honesty or quality.
5. Safety and in-home conduct
Once you hire someone, they work in your home under your supervision, as your employee. You are responsible for:
- the safe working conditions in your home;
- supervising the worker and safeguarding your property, valuables and family; and
- the wages, terms and any statutory dues payable to the worker — salary is paid by you directly to the worker, not through us.
We are not liable for the acts, omissions, conduct, negligence or misconduct of any worker in your home, or for any dispute between you and a worker after an introduction — except to the extent any loss is directly caused by our own proven negligence, fraud or breach (see Section 7).
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, and subject always to Section 7:
- our services and this website are provided on an "as is" / "as available" basis;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, loss of data, or loss of opportunity; and
- our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or connected with our services will not exceed the total fees you have actually paid to us in respect of the specific placement or subscription giving rise to the claim.
7. What we do NOT — and cannot — limit (your protected rights)
Indian consumer law limits how far any business can reduce its own responsibility, and we are honest about that. Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes or limits:
- liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence;
- liability for our own fraud, wilful default or gross negligence;
- liability for deficiency in the service we are actually paid to provide (our facilitation, placement and any paid add-on), where that deficiency is caused by us;
- your rights that cannot be waived under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including your right to approach a Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission; or
- anything else that Indian law does not allow us to exclude.
Any term of ours that a Consumer Commission finds to be an unfair contract term will not be enforced against you, and the rest of this page will continue to apply.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against losses, claims and reasonable costs arising from your own conduct — including your dealings with, hiring of, employment of, or treatment of any worker, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the platform.
This indemnity does not apply to, and you are not asked to cover, any loss caused by our own negligence, fraud or breach.
9. Third-party content and reporting a problem
Worker profiles include information provided by the individuals themselves. As an intermediary, we do not independently guarantee that third-party information is accurate. If you believe a profile is false, misleading or otherwise objectionable, tell our Grievance Officer and we will review it and, where appropriate, remove or correct it.
10. Grievance redressal
If you have a complaint about our service or about content on our platform, contact our Grievance Officer:
- Grievance Officer: [GRIEVANCE OFFICER NAME], [GRIEVANCE OFFICER DESIGNATION]

We will acknowledge a consumer complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within one month. Content-takedown complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days (and sooner for certain unlawful content). Full details are on our Contact & Grievance Redressal page.
11. Governing law
This Disclaimer is governed by the laws of India, and the courts at [CITY], [STATE] will have jurisdiction — but this does not take away your right, as a consumer, to approach the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
